Silicicated graphite is produced by way of porous graphite impregnating with molten silicon. Proportion of the components may vary depending on pores in the source graphite, degree of temperature change and duration of impregnation. Thereby silicicated graphite consists of immensely hard silicon carbide structure and free graphite. Precisely this combination provides for a complex of valuable mechanical properties.

Silicicated graphite has high fire resistance, high temperature strength, tolerance to multiple thermal cycling and corrosion environment. It is also characterized with low index of friction and high wear resistance.
